  • to be + from: indica o lugar onde a pessoa nasceu;

  • live + in: indica o lugar onde a pessoa mora;

  • but: contraste o lugar de nascimento com o lugar de moradia.

  • Exemplos:

    • I’m from the US. I live in Japan.
    • John is from Korea. He lives in London, England.
    • He’s from Los Angeles, but he lives in New York.
  • cidades:

    • Tokyo, New York, London, Paris, Vancouver, Shanghai, Rome, Moscow, Sydney.
  • Diálogo
    • Hey, where are you from?
    • Where are you from, Laura?
  • where, in:
    • where: para saber de onde uma pessoa é e onde fica um lugar;
    • in: explicar em qual país fica uma cidade;
    • colocar vírgula após a cidade;

Objetivo: Descobrir de onde um novo amigo é e como é a cidade dele.

  • Diálogo:
    • north, beautiful city, great beaches, wonderful, big, busy, exciting
  • Adjetivos: palavra que descreve um substantivo.
    • usar após to be ou antes de um substantivo.
      • Paris is beautiful.
      • London is expensive;
    • usar advérbio realy para enfatizar o adjetivo; Brazil is really big; Salvador is really exciting;
    • usar a ou an quando o adjetivo vier antes de um substantivo singular;
    • a e an significam um de algo;
    • usar an antes de palavras que comecem com vogais;
      • Paris is a beatiful city;
      • Salvador is an exciting city;
    • ao aprender adjetivos, estudar seus opostos:
      • exciting - boring;
      • beatiful - ugly;
      • big - small;
      • wonderful - terrible;
      • expensive - cheap (pron.: tchíp);
      • quiet - noisy (pron.: noisiii);
      • crowded (lotado, cheio, congestionado) - uncrowded, empty (vazio);
  • What’s + subst./pron. + like para saber a descrição/opinião sobre a cidade/país;
    • What’s Britain like? It’s great!
    • What’s it like? It’s crowded!
  • How: pede a opinião sobre cidad/país;

Objetivo: Descrever onde você mora para um colega
